about

bonsai is the product of a journey we made during the last two years. As a band we started in 2014 with dark and explosive Postrock, euphoric guitars, mellow pianos and warm synths - playing our first gigs and searching for "our" sound. Then, during 2015, we explored a new kind of music: Mathrock. Complex beats mixed up with crazy and happy guitars. Inspired by bands like Enemies and Totorro we focused on that kind of music apart from our original passion. We got the opportunity to record a live take at our friends studio in January 2016. And we chose bonsai instead of one of our actual songs because we were not really satisfied with them yet. Our own voices didn't fit in the mix so we thought it could be fun to work with a kids choir. The kids on the track were recorded at Christliches Gymnasium Jena in March 2016.
Redefining our sound after visiting ArcTanGent Festival in summer 2016 and working on new stuff, we almost forgot bonsai, sleeping in our music folders. It had never been fit in our set and we came to the conclusion that we would never play this song live wholeheartedly. We moved on. But bonsai remains and for us is a happy memory... That's why we decided to share it with you anyway. So here it is. Stay unruly and wild! //n,p,j
